Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Stuck with Unidentified Body, Police Appeal for Information

Kabale Regional Referral Hospital is appealing to the public to help identify the body of an unidentified male adult, which has been at the hospital since October 2, 2024. The body was discovered along the road in Kamuterere Village, Kakore Parish, Hamurwa Sub-county, Rubanda District.

The deceased, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, was found dressed in old white canvas shoes, black trousers, and a black jacket. He is described as dark-skinned, bearded, and having a gap in his upper jaw. Despite efforts to identify him, the man’s identity remains unknown.

According to a police report, the body was first spotted by a boda boda rider at Hakakondogoro stage along the Kabale-Kisoro road early in the morning at around 7:30 AM. The rider immediately informed the authorities.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the police visited the scene, documented the case, and transported the body to Kabale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.

“We urge anyone with a missing relative fitting the description to visit the hospital mortuary to assist in identifying the deceased,” Maate stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death.

Authorities continue to appeal to the public for cooperation in bringing closure to the situation and ensuring that the deceased receives a proper burial.
