Police in Ibanda District are investigating an attempted murder that occurred in Bukuuto 1 Cell, Kigarama Ward, Bisheshe Division. The incident, which took place on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at around 1:00 AM, left the victim, Ahimbisibwe Joseph, also known as Kitengye, with severe injuries.
According to the Regional Police Spokesman SP Samson Kasasira, the 42-year-old resident of Kigarama Cell was attacked while sleeping with Kyarisiima Annet, the mother of the suspect, Tindyebwa Crescent. Reports indicate that Tindyebwa knocked on the door demanding entry. Upon entering, he went straight to the bedroom armed with a panga and attacked Joseph, inflicting severe wounds on his left leg and scrotum.
During the attack, Kyarisiima Annet intervened and restrained her son, which allowed the victim to flee to his home. Joseph then contacted his friend, Busingye Patrick, who rushed him to Ruhoko Health Center IV for urgent medical treatment.
SP Kasasira informed the press that a case of attempted murder was filed at Ibanda Central Police Station, prompting an immediate investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that a long-standing relationship between Joseph and Annet may have fueled the attack.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and police are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted murder.
