Ronald Asiimwe, Managing Director of Asiimwe Preparatory School in Burimba, Kitooma parish of Rubaya Sub-County in Kabale District, has called for a collaborative effort among education stakeholders to address the issue of material scarcity hindering educational progress in Uganda.

Asiimwe’s plea came after the school received a generous donation of scholastic materials from the Clark family of the United States of America, led by Catherine Clark, the donation that included books, pens, water filters to enable them having clean water, computers, lights, pencils, Posho, uniforms, and sanitary pads for girls, items often out of reach for many Ugandan students due to their cost.

After receiving the donations Ronald Asiimwe echoed call for action, highlighting the impact of material scarcity on education standards in Uganda revealing that as educationists they need to find ways to make these essential materials more accessible to all students of both levels.

He says that this requires a comprehensive strategy that involves both short-term solutions, like donations, and long-term initiatives that address the underlying economic challenges saying that if these donations are continuous may push the education to the next standard.

He further calls for a collaborative effort to tackle the broader issue of material scarcity in Uganda’s education system is a crucial reminder of the ongoing challenges and the need for sustained action.

During the handover ceremony at the school, Catherine Clark, who was visiting Uganda for the first time in the past years, expressed her concern about the challenges faced by students where she witnessed firsthand how many children struggle and even drop out of school because they lack basic materials saying that these items are essential for learning, and their absence is a major obstacle to the development of our future generations.

She emphasized the need for a collective approach to address this issue, explaining that We need to work together, as educators, parents, and government officials, to find sustainable solutions by not just providing temporary relief but ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential of education.
