Local leaders in Kibuga Sub County, Ndorwa West, Kabale District, are raising urgent concerns over the absence of a secondary school in their area, emphasizing the need for adherence to the government policy mandating secondary schools in every sub county.

The leaders expressed their grievances yesterday June 17, 2024, during piglet distribution event organized by Kabale District Woman MP Hon. Catherine Atwakiire Ndamira. The event took place in Rutare, Kibuga, and Karujanjanga parishes.

Kamugisha Vincent, the Kibuga Sub County LC3 Chairman, highlighted the significant challenge faced by students who are compelled to walk long distances to attend nearby schools such as St. Banabas Karujanga in Katuna Town Council and Rukore High School. “The absence of a secondary school in Kibuga Sub County is a major setback for our community. Our children endure long and tiring journeys, which impacts their academic performance and overall well-being,” he stated.

Female Councilor Praise Ampere, representing Katuna Town Council and Kibuga Sub County, echoed similar sentiments. She pointed out that the lack of a secondary school not only disrupts education but also leaves many qualified graduate teachers in the area unemployed. “We have numerous graduate teachers in our community who could be productively engaged if we had a secondary school. This situation is hindering both educational development and employment opportunities,” she explained.
