Kabale’s LC5 Councilor Donates Essentials to Curb Dropout Rates at Mugabi Primary School

In a bid to combat school dropout rates, Lydia Turyasingura, the LC5 female councilor for Southern Division in Kabale District, has made a thoughtful contribution to Mugabi Primary School. Turyasingura donated reusable sanitary pads, pens, and rulers to support students, especially those in Primary Seven and Six, as they approach their final exams. Her donation reflects a deep commitment to improving student welfare and educational outcomes in the region.

Turyasingura highlighted the financial struggles some students face, particularly the challenges girls experience in accessing essential items like sanitary pads. With the gift of reusable pads, she hopes to lessen the financial burden on girls and enable them to remain in school consistently, avoiding disruptions in their education due to menstrual challenges.

Project Manager Marion Ninsiima also voiced the importance of accessible menstrual hygiene resources, recognizing the role these provisions play in reducing dropout rates. Ninsiima noted that many girls in the area face the risk of missing school because they lack sanitary pads, a challenge Turyasingura’s contribution directly addresses.
