Minister of Education Calls for Quality Education and Research at Kabale University 8th Graduation

The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, has urged university councils and management to prioritize the provision of superior educational standards. Her message, delivered by the State Minister for Primary Education, Hon. Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, was a highlight of the 8th graduation ceremony of Kabale University, where 1,387 students celebrated their academic achievements.

Addressing the gathering at Kabale University’s playground in Kabale Municipality, HE. Kataaha emphasized the critical role of universities and tertiary institutions in shaping graduates who can significantly contribute to national and global development. She stressed the importance of robust education systems that transform knowledge, skills, and values into tangible goods and services essential for human welfare.

“It is imperative that our universities ensure students are comprehensively trained, enabling them to be effective contributors to the development of our country and the world,” Janet’s message stated.

The minister also highlighted the Ministry of Education’s commitment to modernizing university infrastructure with cutting-edge technology, aiming to equip graduates with the skills necessary for sustainable socio-economic transformation in Uganda.

Furthermore, Janet called on the new graduates to leverage their acquired knowledge for the betterment of their communities, urging them to avoid vices such as alcoholism, sexual immorality, drug abuse, corruption, and dishonesty. She encouraged them to focus on building a positive personal brand.

Prof. Ezra Suruma, Chancellor of Makerere University and the guest speaker at the ceremony, encouraged the graduates to prioritize spiritual values as they embark on their new journeys.

Joy Kwesiga, Vice Chancellor of Kabale University, also addressed the graduates, advising them to seize opportunities and build strong networks as they enter the job market.
