The construction of three classroom blocks and multipurpose halls in selected schools within Rubanda District has reached an impressive 90% completion. This has been revealed during monitoring exercise led by District Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, accompanied by various heads of district departments.
The monitoring exercise commenced at Kitagyenda Primary School, where a new three-classroom block valued at 150 million UGX is nearing completion. Similar progress was observed at Bubaare Secondary School, where the district is constructing a girls’ dormitory worth 150 million UGX.
At Nyamiringa Primary School in Bubaare Sub County, the team noted significant improvements. The school, which has been struggling with dilapidated buildings on the verge of collapse, is also seeing the construction of a new classroom block worth 150 million UGX. The School’s Deputy Head Teacher, Mucunguzi Nicholas, highlighted that the deteriorating infrastructure had been a major concern, scaring away both teachers and pupils, especially during the rainy season.
The monitoring team also visited Nangaro Primary School, where another three-classroom block, also worth 150 million UGX, is being built. Unfortunately, the visit coincided with the collapse of a dilapidated building that had been housing the primary one block, underscoring the urgent need for these new constructions.
Hamurwa Sub County Female Councilor, Mary Bebwajuba, attributed the district’s transformation to the strong collaboration between the district leadership, led by LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, and the State Minister for Finance General Duties, Hon. Henry Musasizi.
Chairperson Kasyaba continued the inspection at Bufundi College Kacerere, where a multipurpose block valued at 300 million UGX is under construction. The final stop was at St. Charles Lwanga S.S in Muko Sub County, where another multipurpose block worth 200 million UGX is being built.
Speaking to reporters after the exercise, Chairperson Kasyaba praised the efforts of State Minister Henry Musasizi, acknowledging the substantial impact his support has had on the district’s development. “Hardworking leaders never retire,” Kasyaba remarked, “and they always call for the support of the people when needed.”
