Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish, the legislator of Rukiga County, has called on school-going children to prioritize their academic pursuits over concerns about their family and school backgrounds. He made these remarks while officiating St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Day at St. Paul’s Secondary School, Bukinda. This special occasion also marked the celebration of the life and legacy of the late Rev. Fr. Samuel Limmer, the school’s founder.
Hon. Ndyomugyenyi, who is also a former student (OB) of the school, emphasized the importance of education as a means to achieve excellence and build a successful future. “Focus on your books and strive for excellence in your studies. Your background, whether family or school, should not deter you from achieving your goals,” he stated.
In his speech, Hon. Ndyomugyenyi highlighted the importance of hard work, determination, resilience, and prayer in overcoming challenges. He encouraged students to believe in their potential and work diligently towards their dreams.
Ndyomugyenyi further applauded the government, particularly the State Minister for Finance, Hon. Henry Musasizi, for allocating 500 million shillings to the school for the establishment of a three-stalled structure aimed at enhancing the school’s facilities. He also pledged to lobby for additional funds to ensure the completion of this important project.
Ruhangasiimwe John Bosco, the Head Teacher of St. Paul’s Secondary School, Bukinda, revealed that the school celebrates St. Paul’s Day every 29th June. He used the platform to highlight some of the projects the school is working on, the challenges they face, and the interventions that have been made.
He further applauded Hon. Ndyomugyenyi for his efforts in lobbying through Minister Musasizi for the 500 million shillings for the establishment of the three-stalled building. He also called for more funding to complete this project.
Speaking at the same function, Rukiga District Resident Commissioner Fred Nayebale urged students to work on improving themselves every day, emphasizing that it is their responsibility to break the cycle of poverty in their homes. He further called upon them to shun vices such as alcoholism, smoking, and fornication, stressing that HIV is still a significant concern.
While presiding over the Mass, former Vicar General for Kabale Diocese Msgr. Silverio Twinomugisha urged the students to pray and work hard for success in their lives. “Through prayer and hard work, you can achieve great things and overcome any obstacles in your path,” he encouraged.
The event was attended by students, school staff, and community members who gathered to honor the contributions of Rev. Fr. Samuel Limmer. His dedication to education has left an indelible mark on the institution and its students.
