GEP President, Kikafunda Launches Multi-Faceted Projects at Murole High School Academy, donates 200 indigenous trees.

Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda, President of Green Environment Promotion (GEP) and CEO of Live to Inspire Uganda Chapter, made a significant impact during her visit to Murole High School Academy in Rubanda district today. The visit marked the initiation of several transformative projects aimed at enhancing both education and environmental sustainability at the school.

Among the initiatives launched, Kikafunda established an Environment and Agriculture Club, which received a boost of 200 indigenous trees for planting within and around the school premises. This effort underscores her commitment to environmental conservation and addressing local ecological challenges.

In addition to environmental initiatives, Kikafunda also launched a Piggery Project with the donation of two piglets. She says that this project is designed as a revolving fund to benefit vulnerable students, providing them with practical skills and sustainable income opportunities.

Responding to urgent needs voiced by the school, Kikafunda generously donated a sewing machine to the tailoring class, addressing the shortage of equipment that had been hindering practical training. She further adds that this contribution is expected to significantly improve the learning experience for students in the tailoring program.

Furthermore, Kikafunda’s visit was marked by inspirational sessions where she interacted closely with students. Her engagement led to the sponsorship of tuition fees for approximately 20 students, easing the financial burden on their families and enabling them to pursue their education without financial stress. These students are on the Work-Study program were they stay at the school during the holiday and work in return to have their school fees cleared.

Additionally, Kikafunda committed to sponsoring and supporting the education of two students from disadvantaged backgrounds through the Kikafunda Educational Fund, covering their educational expenses up to university level.

In an interview, Kikafunda expressed gratitude for her recent global recognition in women’s climate advocacy, emphasizing her ongoing commitment to grassroots environmental protection through initiatives like tree planting. She highlighted the significance of the 200 trees donated to Murole High School Academy in addressing local environmental challenges.

Joshua Rukundo Kalyebura, the school’s Managing Director, acknowledged the challenges faced in implementing a practical curriculum, particularly in the tailoring department where limited sewing machines had posed a hurdle. He expressed gratitude for Kikafunda’s timely donation of a sewing machine, which he believes will greatly enhance the educational experience for students.

Rukundo also praised Kikafunda’s compassion in supporting vulnerable students with tuition fees, noting the school’s struggle to accommodate students unable to meet financial obligations.

Kikafunda’s visit not only inaugurated crucial projects but also left a lasting impression of hope and empowerment among the students and staff of Murole High School Academy, setting a positive precedent for sustainable development and educational advancement in the region.
