Kyagulanyi Lauds Besigye’s Mentorship And Unity Efforts In Opposition During Rukungiri Visit

The National Unity Platform (NUP) principal, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, has praised Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye for his significant role in mentoring young politicians and fostering unity within the opposition. Kyagulanyi’s commendation came today during a radio talk show hosted by Country Radio.

Accompanied by prominent figures such as the Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, NUP Secretary General Lewis Lubongoya, Mityana MP Francis Zaake, and Kyadondo East MP Muwada Nkunyingi among others, Kyagulanyi emphasized the critical guidance Besigye has provided to the younger generation.

“We are honored to visit the home district of Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye, who has been an essential guide for us in politics,” Kyagulanyi stated. “His efforts in uniting the opposition are truly commendable.”

Following the radio show, the NUP delegation participated in a peaceful procession through Rukungiri town. Unlike previous instances, the Police and UPDF allowed the team to move freely, mirroring the situation in Ishaka.

Addressing the public at Nyakagashe playground, located 5 kilometers from Rukungiri town, Kyagulanyi highlighted that the challenges faced by Rukungiri residents are reflective of nationwide issues. “We are here to remind the masses of the persistent challenges they face,” he said.

Kyadondo East MP Muwada Nkunyingi also expressed his gratitude for the uninterrupted processions by security agencies and noted the importance of being allowed to engage with the public on local radio stations. “Being hosted on radio in Rukungiri is encouraging and should be the norm in all districts we visit,” Nkunyingi remarked.

Kyagulanyi’s rally at Nyakagashe playground attracted significant attention, furthering NUP’s message of unity and resilience. The team plans to continue their outreach with a visit to Ntungamo district tomorrow.
