33-Year-Old Man Electrocuted in Kisoro

Police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances under which a 33-year-old man was electrocuted. The incident occurred as the deceased was bending an iron bar, which came into contact with electricity wires at the former Miami Hotel building in Kisoro Municipality.

The deceased has been identified as Henry Niyigaba, a Mufumbira by tribe and a resident of Nyamirima Village, Nyamagana Division, Kisoro Municipality.

According to eyewitnesses, Niyigaba was bending iron bars on the third floor of the former Miami Hotel building when, unfortunately, the iron bar contacted bare electricity wires.

His coworker, whose names have not been identified, said that he rushed the deceased to the nearby Heart Medical Clinic, but sadly, Niyigaba had already passed away.

Godfrey Muhinda, manager of the UMEME Kisoro branch, acknowledged the incident, attributing it to the recklessness of building owners who fail to disconnect electricity during construction.

Mugerwa Bernard, the District Police Commander (DPC) of Kisoro, confirmed the incident, stating that the scene was visited and a postmortem was immediately carried out, with investigations still pending.
