Bishop Akanjuna Urges Parents to Guide and Engage Children over the Christmas Break

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has encouraged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children during the extended Christmas holiday to protect them from harmful influences that could negatively impact their lives.

He made these remarks today at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Rugarama, in the northern division of Kabale Municipality during a fundraising drive led by the Canons toward the construction of the cathedral tower.

Bishop Akanjuna highlighted that, with Primary Seven leavers, Senior Four students, and others soon finishing their term, parents and guardians should set positive examples for their children by acting as role models and helping to instill strong values and good behavior. He also urged parents to assign their children meaningful responsibilities at home to keep them engaged and constructively occupied throughout the festive season.

Speaking at the same service as the chief guest, Hon. Prossy Begumisa Akampurira Mbabazi, the Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament, asked the Christians to refrain from publicizing what they have given to God through the church. She emphasized that there is no need to announce these offerings to the general public, as Almighty God already knows what we have given, being the source of all that we possess on this earth.

Hon prossy who doubles as the commissioner in the parliament urged the Christian community to unite in faith and action to address the persistent poverty affecting millions in Uganda.

She emphasized the importance of unity and collective efforts within the Christian faith, underscoring that it is the duty of Christians not only to pray but also to work toward sustainable solutions to uplift their communities.

The commissioner added that much more could be achieved by pooling resources, ideas, and compassion to help break the chains of poverty binding many Ugandans.
