Christians Urged to Account for Talents and Prepare for the Afterlife

Christians have been challenged to account for their talents, gifts, and skills as part of their preparation for the afterlife. This call was made by Rev. Fr. Ambrose Ndinomukyiza, the parish priest of Karambi under Kabale Diocese, during the funeral mass of the late Nyabuhara Edvinah on Thursday, October 17th.

Nyabuhara Edvinah, the mother of Godfrey Tukamuhabwa, a male councilor representing Ruhija Town Council in Rubanda District, passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 60, after battling complications from hepatitis B. Born in 1964, she is survived by eight children (four boys and four girls) and 25 grandchildren.

The funeral mass took place at her ancestral home in Mburamizi Cell, Buhumuriro Ward, Ruhija Town Council, Rubanda District, and attracted numerous mourners, including local leaders.

In his message, Rev. Fr. Ambrose Ndinomukyiza expressed concern about Christians failing to fully utilize their God-given talents for the betterment of society. “Have we properly utilized the little God has gifted us while still on earth?” he asked, urging believers to wisely use their time and make the most of their abilities. He emphasized the importance of preparing for death by asking, “What shall people see physically that one has left behind before the funeral mass?” He noted that mourners often cry either tears of sadness or tears of joy, depending on the impact the deceased had on others’ lives.

In attendance was the Ruhija Town Council Mayor and Female LC5 Councilor representing Ruhija Sub County, Neverine Tusasibwe, who praised the leadership of Rubanda District, including LC5 Chairman Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba and State Minister for Finance General Duties, Hon. Henry Musasizi. She lauded their achievements in improving health, education, and infrastructure in the area.

Mr.

Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, the Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson, used the occasion to urge local residents to enroll their children in Ruhija Seed School as a way of enhancing the community’s future.

The heartfelt messages during the service highlighted the need for personal accountability and dedication to community development.
