In an unforgettable celebration, Counsel Elvis Twenda, hopeful MP for Ndorwa County East, made history by introducing fireworks to Ndorwa East Constituency for the first time. The event took place on New Year’s Eve at Nyanja Playground, Nyanja Parish, Maziba Sub-county, leaving the local community in awe.
The evening began with the thrilling Christmas Cup finals, where Nyanja FC triumphed over Kanjobe FC with a close 2-1 victory. Following the match, the crowd was treated to various entertainments, culminating in a dazzling fireworks display that lit up the skies—a spectacle the locals usually had to travel to Kabale town to experience.
Local leaders, including former LC2 chairman Gabriel Tumwesigyire and LC3 vice chairperson Hon. Prossy Ngabirano, praised Twenda for his initiative. They hailed the event as a milestone in Nyanja Parish and the entire constituency, bringing joy and a sense of pride to the community.
“This is the first time our area has witnessed such a grand celebration,” Tumwesigyire remarked. “Counsel Twenda has truly brought the New Year spirit home to us.”
In his address, Counsel Twenda expressed gratitude to the community for their support and took the opportunity to set the record straight regarding his political journey. He emphasized that his candidacy was independent of the influence of Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba, the current Ndorwa East MP, underlining his autonomy and dedication to representing the constituency’s interests.
The event marked not only the start of a new year but also a new chapter in the political and social landscape of Ndorwa East, with Counsel Twenda leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his constituents.
