The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has applauded Christians in the diocese for their unwavering support towards sustaining church ministry through financial contributions. He made these remarks during the End-of-Year Fellowship and Holy Communion Service for the Diocese of Kigezi-Kampala Chapter held at All Saints Cathedral, Kampala.
While delivering his sermon, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized that the diocese is now focused on enhancing services in various projects and institutions, including schools, health facilities, and water and sanitation initiatives, to improve the welfare of Christians. “Supporting places of worship and vulnerable communities is a fundamental aspect of Christian faith. It demonstrates our commitment to serving God and our neighbors,” he said. Bishop Akanjuna reminded Christians that God rewards those who give generously and selflessly.
The Bishop also expressed profound gratitude to the Diocese of Kigezi Kampala Fellowship for their significant contributions to diocesan projects. He particularly highlighted the group’s extraordinary generosity, which has been recognized nationwide, especially during the recent Bishop’s Development Fund (BDF) initiatives.
Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, the Head of Laity for the Diocese of Kigezi, reiterated the Bishop’s sentiments, noting that several church projects are being implemented successfully due to the immense support from Christians under the Kampala Chapter and those residing within the diocese.
During the same event, the Minister of State for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Hon. David Bahati, commended Bishop Akanjuna for his exemplary leadership in advancing church and national development. He urged Christians to embrace the festive season with forgiveness, love, faith, and actions that positively impact society.
The event served as an opportunity to reflect on the diocese’s achievements, encourage continued collaboration among Christians, and set the tone for the upcoming year.
