The Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, has issued a passionate call to prioritize investment in the education of boys as a cornerstone for bolstering the Church’s foundation. Speaking at the Diocese of Kigezi Kampala Chapter dinner hosted at Kembabazi Catering Center in Naguru, Kampala, Bishop Akanjuna underscored the crucial role of education in shaping young men into committed members of the Christian community.
The occasion marked the launch of the Bishop’s Development Fund (BDF), a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing capacity and sustaining strategic development plans within the diocese. Highlighting concerns over the educational neglect of boys in various communities, Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the potential long-term repercussions on both society and the Church. He called upon families, church leaders, and the wider Christian community to prioritize and support educational opportunities for boys, ensuring they receive the necessary resources to excel academically and spiritually.

Canon Johnson Baryantuma Munono, Diocesan head of Laity and chairman of the 15-member BDF program, disclosed plans for a significant infrastructure project in Kabale Town along the Kabale-Kisoro road. The project, valued at 3.1 billion shillings and slated to commence in November 2024, aims to replace current structures housing the Diocesan Book Shop.
