Diocese of Kigezi’s Bishop Akanjuna Urges Youth to Shun Immorality for a Promising Future

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has called on young people to abandon immoral behaviors if they hope to succeed in life. Bishop Akanjuna made these remarks during a confirmation service today at St. James Muko Church of Uganda, Muko Sub-county, where 119 Christians were confirmed into the Anglican faith.

In his address, Bishop Akanjuna underscored the importance of adhering to Christian values, expressing concern over the rising number of youth engaging in actions that he said tarnish their reputations and impede their progress. He highlighted the severe consequences of immorality, including unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and issues of alcoholism, which he warned could derail young people from their goals. “Focus on your education, stay committed to your aspirations, and make choices that are in harmony with your faith,” he urged.

During the same event, the Diocesan Missions Coordinator, Rev. Daniel Byamukama, delivered a sermon based on Matthew 18:21-22, emphasizing the power of forgiveness. He reminded Christians of Jesus’ teaching on unlimited forgiveness, which he described as a reflection of God’s boundless mercy. Rev. Byamukama explained that true forgiveness goes beyond keeping track of wrongs and involves releasing burdens, which can lead to restored relationships and personal peace.

Rev. Byamukama further encouraged Christians to view forgiveness as a journey that may require patience and repeated efforts. “Forgiveness is a process, sometimes taking time and a deep commitment to healing,” he explained, encouraging the congregation to embrace forgiveness as a means to build stronger, more compassionate communities.
