The Territorial Traffic Police in Kabale District have apprehended a driver and his conductor following an incident of dangerous driving that recently went viral on social media. The incident, which occurred on Katuna Road, involved a Toyota Noah, registration number UBB 302E, seen carrying property and a passenger on its rooftop, posing serious risks to safety.
The driver, Brian Akanyijuka, and the conductor, Kennedy Kyokwijuka, now face charges of dangerous loading, endangering passengers, and carrying passengers without a license. According to authorities, the footage, widely shared on social media, showed the conductor seated precariously atop the vehicle amidst loaded property—a dangerous situation for him and a flagrant violation of traffic regulations.

Traffic Police in Kabale have emphasized that such reckless practices will not be tolerated on Uganda’s roads. “This is a very dangerous practice, endangering lives, and such behavior must be deterred,” a police spokesperson commented.
Upon completion of inquiries, Akanyijuka and Kyokwijuka will be brought before a court to answer these charges. Authorities hope this action will deter others from engaging in similarly dangerous practices, underscoring the police’s commitment to road safety.
