The race for Kabale Municipality’s Member of Parliament seat has taken a dramatic turn as football legend Brian Arinaitwe Zatwoshaho alias “Senior legend” announced his candidacy as an independent. Speaking at a briefing held at Kabale Stadium in Kabale Municipality, the renowned sports icon emphasized that his campaign will focus on uniting Kabale residents through sports, talent development, and community empowerment.
“I will stand as an independent candidate because I believe leadership should not be tied to political affiliations. My focus is on serving the people, especially the youth, whose voices are often overlooked,” Arinaitwe declared.
Arinaitwe, whose illustrious football career inspired many in the Kigezi sub-region, stated that his campaign would champion the untapped potential of sports and creative talent in the area.
“Our youth have immense potential, but they lack the platforms to excel. I will prioritize the establishment of a sports academy, creative arts centers, and better facilities to nurture their dreams,” he said.
He further pledged to lobby for resources to improve local playgrounds and provide scholarships for young talent to compete at national and international levels.
