GEP President Kikafunda Launches Piggery Project to Empower Kabale Diocese Youth

Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda, CEO of Live to Inspire Uganda Chapter and President of Green Environment Promotion (GEP), has initiated a piggery project targeting the youth in Kabale Diocese. The initiative begins with six beneficiaries, aiming to empower young people through sustainable livelihoods.

Kikafunda announced the project during the conclusion of the 2024 Kabale Diocesan Youth Conference held at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza in Rushoroza Cell, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality. She described the initiative as a revolutionary step towards youth empowerment and a practical means to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency.

“This project will support the youth in Kabale Diocese by providing them with resources to establish a sustainable income,” Kikafunda remarked.

Rev. Fr. Januario Nomugisha, Director of Youth and Children Ministry in Kabale Diocese, expressed gratitude to Kikafunda for her continued efforts in empowering the youth. He lauded the piggery project as a timely intervention to address the economic challenges faced by young people in the region.

In addition to the piggery project, Kikafunda pledged to donate a personal computer through GEP to Phiona Komujuni, a visually impaired student from Iganga Secondary School and a vacist from Rubanda Deanery, Kakore Rugambwa Parish. The donation aims to support Phiona’s academic aspirations and enable her to excel despite challenges.

“Empowering young people, especially those with unique needs like Phiona, is not just a responsibility but a commitment to building a better future for all,” Kikafunda stated.

The event underscored the Diocese’s dedication to youth empowerment, highlighting initiatives that foster growth, inclusivity, and resilience among the younger generation.
