Hornby High School’s Charity Club on Saturday last week distributed essential items to the pediatric ward at Rugarama Hospital, located in Northern Division, Kabale District, as part of their efforts to ease the financial burden on the children’s caretakers.
While speaking to our reporter at Rugarama Hospital, Ms. Deborah Aturinda, the patron of the Charity Club, emphasized the importance of school clubs in enhancing a competence-based curriculum. She added that Hornby High School aims to equip students with life skills, which are nurtured through clubs like the Charity Club.
The donated items included toilet paper, Pampers, sugar, soap, and other essentials, all intended to reduce the financial strain on the children’s caretakers.
Ms. Aturinda, who is also a teacher of literature and English at Hornby High, commended the head teacher and the entire staff of the school for their dedication to supporting and assisting those in need.
Tusiime Onna and Doreen Ainembabazi, both members of the Charity Club, urged the public to help others whenever possible, quoting Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Jessica Kembabazi, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to Hornby High School for establishing clubs that focus on helping others in the community.
