In a move to bolster the accounting profession across the country, the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has launched the Kigezi Regional Network aimed at building a strong foundation and connection among accounting professionals in the Kigezi region.
During the launch held at Kirigime Guest House in the southern division of Kabale municipality, CPA Elizabeth Wanyama, a representative of ICPAU, emphasized the importance of the regional network in easing the auditing process for business operators in the area. She added that the Kigezi Regional Network will serve as a hub for accounting professionals to collaborate, share knowledge, and provide support to local businesses.
Wanyama further revealed that the network will offer training programs, networking opportunities, and access to resources for certified public accountants (CPAs) in the Kigezi region. She added that the network will enhance professional development, foster best practices, and ensure compliance with accounting standards, stating that they have certified accounting firms that will help people.

According to CPA Justine Tushemereirwe, the Bishop Barham College bursar and a member of ICPAU in the Kigezi region, local residents, particularly A-level graduates, should consider enrolling in the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) course, emphasizing the importance of building a robust and well-trained pool of accounting professionals to support the growing business landscape in Uganda.
She added that the CPA qualification is a valuable asset that can open doors to numerous opportunities in the field of finance and accounting, reminding them that it can’t expire since you can work in your old age. Thus, urging the youth, especially those who have completed their A-level studies, to pursue this course, we can collectively boost the professional standards and expertise within the accounting sector.
