The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kabale District, Ronald Bakaki, has issued a stern warning to all parish chiefs and SACCO committee executives who have extorted money from Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiaries. Bakaki has given them a seven-day ultimatum to return the money to its rightful owners or face stringent actions.
Bakaki delivered this warning today during an exclusive interview with our reporter at his office in Makanga, Kabale Municipality, Kabale District. He highlighted that each PDM beneficiary is entitled to receive one million shillings to support their enterprises. These funds are fully covered by the government, and beneficiaries are not required to pay any fees to access them.
“The President has already paid for these funds. Beneficiaries are not supposed to pay any money to receive them,” Bakaki asserted. “My office is prepared to take decisive action against anyone who violates this policy.”
Bakaki expressed his disappointment in some program and project implementers within the district who have chosen to engage in corrupt practices, thereby undermining the efforts of the RDC office to sensitize the community and ensure the success of government programs. He reiterated his office’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing its critical role in achieving the government’s goal of socio-economic transformation.
“The community must aid in the fight against corruption in government programs,” Bakaki urged. “These programs are meant to be free. Everyone is facilitated to perform their duties, and all services should be provided free of charge.”
