Kabale District Speaker Urges Students to Stay Focused and Safe as Schools Reopen for Third Term.

As schools in Kabale District and Uganda at large reopened for the third term today, the Kabale District Speaker, Hon. Flavia Kanaginzi, has urged students to use this busy term productively by staying focused on their studies, assisting their parents at home, and avoiding peers who may lead them into harmful activities.

In an interview with our reporter, Hon. Kanaginzi advised students to surround themselves with responsible friends at school who will help them plan for better performance, rather than those who might encourage detrimental behaviors such as drinking alcohol or smoking, which could jeopardize their academic success.

Hon. Kanaginzi also encouraged students to make time for their studies and not to become complacent as they return to school. She stressed the importance of remaining diligent and committed to their academic responsibilities.

Furthermore, she called upon parents, guardians, and caretakers to actively engage with their children as they return to school, offering guidance and support to help them prepare for a successful academic term, and advised that they should not spend the entire first week having children engage in domestic work.

She has warned drivers not to overload students and to resist overspending, saying that they should not rush for money and forget the lives of the people they are responsible for.

Hon. Kanaginzi also urged parents and students to remain vigilant about security as they travel back to their homes and schools, noting that some individuals might exploit the situation for theft.

She has also called upon school administrators to work hand in hand with teachers to ensure that they start teaching immediately and avoid wasting time for the students.
