A total of 26 million shillings has been raised during a thanksgiving ceremony aimed at raising funds to complete the construction of a staff house and rehabilitate school structures at Kacerere Primary School. The event, held at Kacerere Church of Uganda Archdeaconry on Sunday 20th October 2024, was part of efforts to reach the 52 million shillings required for the project.
Born Tindiweegi, one of the organizers, told our reporter that the fundraising was prompted by the stalled construction of the staff house, which still requires doors, windows, and plastering. The school, which was built in the early 1960s, is also in dire need of rehabilitation due to the poor state of the existing structures.
Tindiweegi highlighted that with 21 teachers on staff, only seven have accommodation at the school, forcing the rest to commute from their homes. The completion of the new staff house will provide housing for an additional eight teachers, improving their work environment and overall efficiency. The school currently has an enrollment of 1,118 learners.

Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Prossy Akampurira Begumisa, who graced the event as the chief guest, applauded the school’s administrators for their initiative in improving the school’s infrastructure. She urged parents to take an active role in monitoring their children’s discipline, emphasizing that it is key to nurturing future leaders.
