The Kigezi Leaders Symposium and Expo, organized by the Edifice Foundation, commenced today, Thursday, with a significant turnout of business people registering their businesses in preparation for tomorrow’s main event.
Speaking at the Kabale Municipal Stadium, where the event is being hosted, the Director of the Edifice Foundation and Event Director, Sam Tindimwebwa Kanyamukiza, explained that the symposium aims to explore opportunities for collaboration between public and private stakeholders to grow the local economy of Kigezi.
Sam emphasized that the event has drawn a variety of guests from Kigezi and across the country to equip small-scale business owners with strategies to increase their earnings. He revealed that top business leaders, industry experts, and influencers from different sectors will convene on Friday to share their knowledge and experience.
“This Business Leadership Symposium is a solution-oriented platform that explores the importance of collaboration among business leaders from various sectors. It also serves as an opportunity to showcase business-inspired innovations,” Sam stated.
He added that the ultimate goal is for attendees to leave the Kigezi Leaders Symposium and Expo 2024 not just with memories, but with a blueprint and roadmap for addressing local economic challenges. Participants will gain valuable lessons, insights, and policy-driven ideas to spark positive change.
He also mentioned that they will teach youth and other groups how to save the money they earn from their small businesses
Guests will discuss topics including favourable taxation, the role of banking institutions, improving the private sector, effective policy formulation, value addition, research and innovation, public service delivery, improving the local economy, civic responsibility, market creation, the role of faith-based institutions in local development, and the impact of industrial hubs, among others.
