Ndorwa East and Kabale Need Leaders Committed to Sustainable Growth, Warns MP Hopeful Kyokwijuka

Alexander Kyokwijuka, widely known as Amatsiko g’ Ndorwa East and a Member of Parliament hopeful for Ndorwa County East, has raised concerns about the lack of leaders championing sustainable development in the Kigezi Sub-Region.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with Kigezi Television, Kyokwijuka emphasized the need for accountability and called on locals to actively engage in holding their leaders responsible for their actions.

“For years, Ndorwa East and Kabale at large have not seen leaders who truly advocate for sustainable development. It’s time for the people to hold their leaders accountable and demand better services,” Kyokwijuka stated.

Kyokwijuka also pointed out critical challenges facing the people of Ndorwa County East, particularly in the education and health sectors. He urged the community to also focus on agriculture as a vital area that could drive economic growth if championed effectively. “While the government has a role in delivering services, we, as citizens, have the responsibility to ask our leaders at different levels and hold them accountable,” he emphasized.

Kyokwijuka further addressed the severe economic hardships faced by residents, including the struggle to secure even a single meal daily due to the impacts of climate change. He acknowledged that despite many attaining education, the lack of employment opportunities remains a pressing issue, contributing to societal problems such as domestic violence. He called for innovative solutions to create employment and improve community livelihoods.

Addressing the rampant corruption in Uganda, Kyokwijuka lamented the lack of transparency and accountability in the management of public funds. He called on the public to embrace values of transparency and accountability, stressing that government money should be used for its intended purposes. “It’s high time we adopted practices that ensure accountability, so government funds can achieve their designated goals,” he added.

Kyokwijuka also underscored the importance of youth empowerment as a critical component of planning for the future. He highlighted that young people are the future leaders and responsible citizens of the country, advocating for initiatives that promote education and skills development to provide sustainable solutions to ongoing challenges.

He further called upon men and women to join community savings groups to supplement government programs such as the Parish Development Model, Emyoga, and the Youth Livelihood Program. “Savings groups can significantly boost household income and eradicate poverty,” he noted.
