Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, has urged Christians to prepare for life after death by accepting Jesus Christ as their savior. The bishop made this call during the 80th birthday celebration of Florence Batabara Katabazi. The event was held in Bunono Mugera Nyarushanje, Rukungiri District, where Florence was born on October 30, 1944.
Bishop Asiimwe highlighted the growing concern over Christians neglecting church services in favor of worldly pleasures. “Life on earth is temporary, and true preparation lies in strengthening your faith and building a relationship with Christ,” he emphasized.
Florence, who married the late Mr. James Mitabiro Katabazi in October 1960, is the mother of nine children, eight of whom are still alive. Her family and friends gathered to honor her life and legacy.
Several dignitaries attended the celebration, including Gen. David Muhoozi, State Minister for Internal Affairs and Hon Roland Ndyomugyengi Bish the Rukiga County MP who commended Florence and her children for maintaining a strong family image. He encouraged attendees to embrace government initiatives aimed at poverty reduction and to engage in income-generating activities.
Hon. Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi, Woman MP for Rukiga District and a daughter-in-law to Florence, praised her for fostering unity and equity among her children. “She has been a beacon of love and wisdom in our family,” Hon. Kamusiime remarked.
Florence’s children and grandchildren surprised her with a brand-new Toyota Noah, UBR 952Y, as a token of appreciation for her unwavering dedication and love. The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, was also present to extend his blessings and celebrate with the family.
The event underscored the importance of faith, family unity, and community support in building a meaningful life.
