Police Detain Six Suspects Over Alleged Murder of Woman in Rubaya, Kabale

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Tumushabe Jovinta, 45, following an argument over undisclosed issues in Kafumbo Village, Rubaya Sub- County, Kabale District. 

The suspects, identified as Turyatemba Gadi, Niwagaba Fred, Friday Damson, Orikiriza Ambrose, Taremwa Esau, and Bahati Abdul all residents of Kagasha Village in Rubaya Sub- County allegedly murdered the victim on the night of December 26, 2024, in Kafumbo Village. 

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspects were seen exchanging heated words with the victim that night over unknown issues. 

Police reports indicate that on the morning of December 27, 2024, at around 7:00 a.m., Jovinta’s body was discovered on the roadside along Kafumbo Road. The body had multiple injuries, suggesting a violent attack. 

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, stated that residents reported the incident to the DPC at Kabale Central Police Station and the area OC, who subsequently informed the District CID Officer. 

Following the report, the District CID Officer led a team to the scene, which was promptly examined and documented. Relevant statements were recorded from witnesses, and the body was examined and taken for a postmortem. 

Six suspects were apprehended and are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
