Police Investigate Murder of Man Found Dead in Kigongi, Kabale

Kabale Police have launched an investigation into the mysterious murder of a man identified by the nickname “Kikoko,” whose body was discovered yesterday, December 28, 2024 in Kigongi “A” Cell, Kigongi Ward, Central Division, Kabale District.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate revealed that the deceased, a casual laborer in his late 20s, had been residing at a construction site for the All Saints Church Mother’s Union in Kigongi “A,” where he also worked as a security guard.

ASP Maate stated that the body was found along the road near the site, bearing fresh injuries on the head, both hands, and one leg, suggesting foul play.

The discovery was reported by Dr. Benjamin Mayanja, a health worker and resident of the area. In his statement to the police, Dr. Mayanja explained that he first heard rumors about the body while inside his house and later found it around 2:00 PM behind his residence.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the body may have been dumped during the daytime, as some individuals who passed through the area earlier in the day reported not seeing it. However, some witnesses declined to record formal statements with the police.

Kabale Police visited the scene, documented evidence, and transported the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for further examination. A police canine unit was deployed to track the suspects, but it did not yield any leads.

ASP Maate confirmed that no arrests have been made so far and that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime. He urged residents to provide any information that could aid in solving the case, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance to ensure justice is served.
