Amidst heartfelt tributes and solemn reflections at the funeral mass of the late Mrs. Matilda Kasyaba, Rubanda District Woman MP Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi seized the moment to champion education equality, emphasizing the importance of providing equal learning opportunities for all children regardless of gender.
“Education is not a privilege reserved for one gender over the other. It is a fundamental right that every child deserves,” emphasized Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi. “We cannot afford to leave any child behind. We must strive for equality in educational opportunities.”
Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi voiced deep concerns over a noticeable decline in boys’ enrollment in schools across the region. In her impassioned address, she emphasized the critical need for an inclusive approach to education that transcends gender boundaries.
“I’ve received alarming reports indicating a significant decrease in the number of boys attending schools in Rubanda,” stated Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi. “As parents, we must reassess our priorities and ensure that all our children receive access to education, regardless of gender.”
Addressing the gathered mourners, Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi highlighted the legacy of Mrs. Matilda Kasyaba, citing her as a shining example of a champion for education. She urged the community to emulate Mrs. Kasyaba’s commitment to inclusive learning, stressing that education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all.
“Mrs. Matilda Kasyaba was a true advocate for education, and her legacy lives on through her children, who have excelled due to the opportunities she provided them,” stated Hon. Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi. “We must continue her work by ensuring that every child, regardless of gender, has the chance to receive a quality education.”
Thousands mourned the late Mrs. Matilda Kasyaba in a burial mass at Kakore-Rugambwa Catholic Parish in Hamurwa Town Council today. Mrs. Kasyaba was the wife of Dr. Augustine Kasyaba and the mother of Rubanda District Chairperson Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba.
She gave birth to six boys: Dr. Kasyaba Ronald Muheki, Nkurunungi Zepharinus, Birungi Authony, Kasyaba Brendan, Stephen Ampeire Kasyaba, and Bugeiga Douglas.

Mrs. Matilda Timubweine Kasyaba was born in 1941 and passed away on April 12th, 2024 succumbing to Lung Cancer at Kisubi Hospital. She was a teacher of Students with visual impairments at Hornby High School. The Late Mrs. Matilda Timubweine Kasyaba was laid to rest at her home at Hakakondogoro cell, Hamurwa Town Council.
