Ruhinda Sub-County emerged victorious in the 2024 Rujumbura Constituency Boda-Boda Tournament, marking a triumphant conclusion to the event’s inaugural edition.
The tournament, organized by Rujumbura Constituency MP hopeful Hon. Frank Alinaitwe Rukanirwa, commenced in June 2024 and brought together teams from all sub-counties in the constituency. The grand finals, held at Bugangari Sub-County playground, showcased spirited competition in three categories: Men, Ladies, and Legends.
In the Ladies’ category, Nyakagyeme Sub-County triumphed over Bikurungu Town Council with a decisive 2-0 victory. The Legends’ category saw Buhunga Sub-County narrowly defeat Bwambara Sub-County 1-0. The Men’s final proved to be the most thrilling, ending in a 0-0 draw between Ruhinda Sub-County and Bugangari Sub-County. Ruhinda claimed the championship after a nail-biting 5-3 penalty shootout.
Winners in the Ladies’ and Legends’ categories received trophies, medals, and UGX 300,000, while the runners-up were awarded UGX 200,000. The Men’s champions were honored with a trophy, medals, and a cow valued at UGX 2,500,000, while the runners-up walked away with UGX 1,000,000. Additionally, each participating boda boda team received UGX 500,000.
Hon. Frank Arinaitwe Rukanirwa, addressing the jubilant crowd, revealed that over 700 footballs and 52 sets of jerseys were distributed to the sub-counties, with each receiving six sets. Furthermore, over 1,500 reflector jackets were provided to boda boda riders in the constituency.
“This tournament is just the beginning. We are committed to organizing more initiatives like this to foster talent, unity, and development in our community. Let us continue to work hard to alleviate poverty and improve our livelihoods,” Rukanirwa said.

The event’s guest of honor, Kabale District LC5 Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija, commended Hon. Alinaitwe for his efforts in promoting talent and fostering community development.

As the sun set on the Bugangari playground, residents celebrated a memorable event that highlighted the transformative power of sports in uniting communities and nurturing talent.
