Kabale Municipality began its Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) today with a total of 1,832 candidates sitting for the exams across 28 examination centers affiliated with 45 primary schools. Among the candidates are six inmates from Ndorwa Prison and one visually impaired student from Hornby High School Junior.
According to Gloria Asiimwe, the Kabale Municipal Inspector of Schools, the six inmates are taking their exams at Kikungiri Primary School Centre in the Southern Division, while the visually impaired candidate is sitting at Hornby High School Junior Centre.
Asiimwe, who supervised the distribution of examination papers at Kabale Central Police Station, reported that the process began at 8:30 a.m. under strict security measures.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, issued a stern warning against examination malpractice. Speaking to journalists during the exam distribution at Kabale Central Police Station, ASP Maate assured that security personnel are on high alert to monitor the process and address any misconduct. He warned that any school caught attempting to cheat would face severe repercussions.

Nationwide, a total of 798,742 pupils are set to sit for this year’s PLE, reflecting a 6.6% increase from the 749,374 candidates registered in 2023.
