St. Mary’s College Rushoroza Appeals for Additional Funding to Complete Dining Hall Project

The administration of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza has called upon the government, alumni, and well-wishers to provide further financial support to complete the construction of the school’s dining hall.

The ambitious project, initiated with a grant of UGX 300 million from the Ministry of Education and additional contributions from the school’s Old Boys and Girls, has progressed halfway but requires more funding to be completed.

Speaking on behalf of the board, Fr. Charles Lwanga, Chairman of the Board of Governors, praised the stakeholders who have supported the project so far. He emphasized the importance of the dining hall as a critical infrastructure for the school. “Once the roofing is completed, we plan to allow partial use of the facility while working towards its full completion,” Fr. Lwanga explained.

The head teacher, Christopher Monday, echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude for the support received and acknowledging that the project has reached over 50% completion. However, he noted that insufficient funds have slowed progress. “We need additional financial support to ensure the project is completed on time. Beyond the dining hall, we are also focusing on constructing the Golden Jubilee building to house classrooms and addressing other essential school repairs,” he added.

Dr. Innocent Besigye, the Chairperson of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza Old Students Association, expressed his appreciation to all contributors, including the government, school administration, and alumni. He pledged that the association would continue to mobilize resources to ensure the dining hall is completed, estimating the total cost at over UGX 2 billion.

The school administration is optimistic that with collective effort and timely contributions, the dining hall will soon be fully operational, providing much-needed facilities for the students and enhancing the overall learning environment at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza.
