The Very Rev. Obed Turihohabwe, Dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama, has called on married couples to honor the sanctity of marriage as a divine institution ordained by God.
Speaking during the wedding ceremony of Lincoln and Ann Ndyanabangi at St. Peter’s Cathedral in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality, Rev. Turihohabwe emphasized that marriage is a sacred covenant, not a mere human contract. He urged couples to nurture their unions with love, commitment, and mutual respect while adhering to God’s principles.
“Marriage is a reflection of God’s covenant with His people. It demands reverence, dedication, and a steadfast foundation in faith,” Rev. Turihohabwe stated.
He warned against societal pressures that undermine marital values, including infidelity and neglect of spiritual growth, and urged couples to ground their relationships in prayer and seek God’s guidance through challenges. The Dean also called on the church community to actively support and pray for married couples, noting that strong marriages are the cornerstone of stable families and societies.

In his remarks, Hon. David Bahati, State Minister for Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, echoed the Dean’s sentiments, advising the newlyweds to place their faith in the Lord, the ultimate source of love and unity.
“As you have pledged to love and honor each other until death, let your faith in God guide your journey together,” Hon. Bahati encouraged.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining open communication, fostering spiritual growth, and supporting each other through life’s challenges.
The wedding ceremony drew friends, family, and church members in celebration of Lincoln and Ann’s union, with many inspired by the messages of love and faith shared during the service. Attendees left with a renewed sense of the sacredness and commitment marriage demands.
