Thousands Gather to Mourn the Passing of Mzee Elidad Kakombe, Grandfather of Rubanda District Woman MP

Earlier today, a multitude of mourners convened in Mareju, Murole Rubanda town council in Rubanda district, to bid farewell to the late Mzee Elidad Kakombe. The Late Mzee Kakombe who passed away at the age of 105 was the grandfather of Honorable Prossy Akampulira Begumisa Mbabazi, the Rubanda district woman MP,

Mzee Elidad Kakombe was remembered by mourners as a beacon of joy, friendliness, and diligence. His legacy encompassed traits of happiness, warmth, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, according to various testimonies shared by mourners.

With a family tree spanning generations, Mzee Elidad leaves behind a lasting impact through his 30 children, though 10 of them died. His lineage extends to an impressive 122 grandchildren, 133 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Honorable Prossy Akampulira Begumisa Mbabazi expressed gratitude to all who stood by her during this trying time, extending a special acknowledgment to both political rivals and allies for their solidarity.

Honorable Clare Mugumya, the member of parliament for Isingiro district, praised Mzee Elidad’s role as a unifying force within his family. She highlighted his capacity for love and emphasized the importance of familial bonds.

Honorable Pauline Kyaka, Lyantonde woman MP, commended Mzee Elidad’s acceptance of religious diversity within his family. She urged for unity in the pursuit of development, advocating against discrimination and segregation.

Turning attention to pressing environmental concerns, Honorable Kamuntu Mwongyera, Rubanda West constituency MP, voiced apprehension over governments wetland evictions in the Kigezi Sub Region. He called for equitable land use and government accountability to safeguard the livelihoods of the populace.

Venerable Noah Kyooma, archdeacon of Nyaruhanga archdeaconry, urged attendees to emulate Mzee Elidad’s devotion to faith and family. He stressed the importance of seeking divine wisdom and fostering love within communities.

Among the dignitaries present were Honorable Kahonda Donozio, MP of Ruhinda South constituency, Mitoma district, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, Rubanda district Governor, and several political figures, all uniting in honoring the memory of Mzee Elidad.
