UPDF Soldier and Passenger Killed in Kisoro Motorcycle Accident

Police in Kisoro District are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal motorcycle accident that resulted in the deaths of a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier and a female passenger.

The accident occurred on December 15, 2024, at Muganza village along the Kisoro-Kyanika -road.

According to a police statement, the motorcycle was being ridden by the deceased, identified as 26-year-old UPDF soldier Jackson Kwiringiye, who was attached to the Jinja College of Logistics and Engineering and was a resident of Kifumba village, Bukimbiri sub-county, Kisoro District died on the spot while the passenger, identified as Kiconco Tracy, a resident of Kateretere village, Bukimbiri sub-county, Kisoro District, was rushed to Kisoro Hospital for treatment but died shortly after arrival.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday evening.

Maate stated that it is alleged the rider was traveling from Kanaba to Kisoro town at high speed when he lost control and overturned, causing both victims to hit their heads on a stone.

Police visited the scene, documented it, and created a sketch plan. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary, where postmortem examinations were conducted on Monday. Investigations are ongoing.
