The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt Rev Gaddie Akanjuna, has charged the newly confirmed Christians to champion the spread of the gospel in the Anglican Church.
The bishop made this call today during the confirmation ceremony at St. Mark’s Nyakijumba Church Of Uganda Parish under All Saints’ Archdeaconry in the Southern Division of Kabale Municipality, where 27 individuals were confirmed into the Anglican faith.
Bishop Akanjuna emphasized total responsibility to the newly confirmed, urging them to steer the spread of the gospel in the diocese as responsible Christians. He encouraged them to adopt a changed mindset and character by becoming transformed Christians.
However, he urged Christians to refrain from extravagant spending of their savings if they aspire to establish income-generating projects. He highlighted that many Christians save money, but when they accumulate a substantial amount, they spend it extravagantly on unnecessary things, which hinders them from investing in projects that could provide a sustainable source of income.
Bishop Akanjuna stated that it’s not enough to save money; people need to plan how to use it and identify income-generating projects that align with their interests, such as rearing animals or growing vegetables.

Preaching during the same service, the Kigezi Diocesan Treasurer , Rev. Just Ayebare, drawing his sermon from Second Timothy, challenged Christians to refrain from false prophets who are misleading them to join their newly introduced religions, aimed at personal gain.
He urged Christians to desist from being misled by joining new religions because some of the overseers of such religions are often found to be criminals.
