Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, has appealed to newly commissioned Lay Readers to be faithful and uphold personal integrity in their ministry in the Church.
Bishop Akanjuna made the appeal on Saturday December, 14 2024 at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality during the commissioning service of 91 dedicated Lay Readers into the Ministry of God. He urged them to remain faithful to God by staying committed to their service and emphasized the importance of integrity in their lives, both in actions and in words.
Bishop Akanjuna also urged them to remain humble and diligent as they fulfill their roles as messengers of truth, spreading the teachings of the Gospel and serving their communities with unwavering commitment.

In his sermon, Rev. Can. Erasmas Turyatunga, the former diocesan secretary, called on the newly commissioned lay readers to uphold the values and teachings of their faith. He urged them to serve their communities with integrity and dedication, and to embrace the importance of financial transparency in their duties.
Can Turyatunga also stressed on the importance of lay readers being accountable and responsible in their pastoral duties, urging them to steer clear of practices akin to religious prostitution.
