Ndorwa West MP Hopeful Counsel Eliab Mporera Urges the Church to Bridge Societal Divides

In a call for unity amidst growing societal divisions, MP hopeful for Ndorwa County West and lawyer Eliab Naturinda Mporera has emphasized the pivotal role of the church in fostering harmony among humanity. Speaking at the 2nd Annual Kigezi Diocesan Youth Convention today, Counsel Mporera urged religious institutions to serve as catalysts for unity rather than agents of discord.

Addressing a diverse gathering of hundreds of Christians, Counsel Mporera underscored the importance of the church as a unifying force, advocating for its proactive involvement in bridging divides within society. He emphasized the significance of promoting inclusivity and understanding, urging the congregation to embrace their shared humanity and stand against any form of division.

“When we go in our politics, we shall talk when we reach there, but I can tell you that the church has a great responsibility of bringing and unifying us together because the only way of developing Kigezi is when you leaders unite us”, Mporera Said.

Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 22:1, Eliab Mporera highlighted the importance of prioritizing reputation over material wealth. Citing the biblical wisdom that choosing a good reputation is more valuable than great riches, Mporera urged young individuals to focus on cultivating a positive image and integrity in all aspects of their lives.

Mporera emphasized that a strong reputation opens doors to opportunities and success in various endeavors. He encouraged attendees to prioritize character and ethical conduct, stressing that a sterling reputation serves as a foundation for achieving significant milestones and fulfillment in life.

At the Same Event, Counsel Elvis Twenda, the MP hopeful for Ndorwa County East, expressed sincere appreciation for the opportunity to address attendees at the Kigezi Diocesan Youth Convention. Twenda, visibly moved by the sense of community fostered by the church, acknowledged that it was his first experience of such profound unity facilitated by the church.

He further made a generous pledge, promising to donate 70 Bibles to the Diocese as a symbolic gesture of gratitude and reverence for the spiritual significance of Rugarama Hill.

However, Turyakira further urged attendees not to depart from the cathedral grounds in the same spiritual state as they arrived.

Over the course of four transformative days from the 3rd of May 2024, the Kigezi Diocesan Youth Conference, participants have engaged in dynamic discussions, heartfelt worship, and empowering activities aimed at fostering personal and spiritual growth.

Drawing wisdom from Romans 12:2, which calls for transformation through the renewal of the mind, the conference has inspired youth to embrace positive change and pursue lives aligned with God’s will.
