The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna has called on Christians to uphold the sanctity of oaths and acknowledge their inherent sinfulness. Speaking at the confirmation service at St. Peter’s Muyebe Church of Uganda Archdeaconry in Buhara Sub County, where 70 Christians were confirmed into the Anglican faith, Bishop Akanjuna delivered a message of introspection and commitment.
Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the importance of respecting commitments made through oaths, both in personal and public life. He challenged Christians to confront their own imperfections, reminding them that despite often viewing themselves as righteous, all humans are inherently sinners. “We must be honest with ourselves and acknowledge our shortcomings,” he stated, urging the congregation to embrace humility and seek continuous personal growth.
Additionally, Bishop Akanjuna urged Christians to prioritize love, respect, and self-worth in their interactions. He highlighted the importance of fostering a community built on Christian principles of unity and compassion. “Self-respect should translate into treating others with dignity and kindness, recognizing their inherent worth,” he said, advocating for a community where mutual respect and understanding are paramount.

She emphasized the importance of faith as the cornerstone of a strong and lasting family unit. “Communication, forgiveness, and unconditional love are vital within the family,” she noted, describing these values as deeply rooted in Christian teachings.
Byomuhangi also stressed the need for parents to actively nurture their children’s spiritual growth, ensuring they are raised with a strong understanding of God’s love and guidance. “Our children are the future of our faith, and it is our duty to guide them in the ways of the Lord,” she concluded, inspiring the congregation to invest in the spiritual development of the younger generation.
