Hon Caroline Kamusiime Pledges Free Wedding Fees and Gifts for Couples in Rukiga

The Rukiga District Woman MP, Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, has pledged to cover Church wedding fees for financially struggling couples within the Kihanga Archdeaconry, Diocese of Kigezi.

Kamusiime made this announcement during a ceremony to officially welcome Rev. Isaiah Arinaitwe, the newly appointed Parish Priest of Emmanuel Nyarurambi Church of Uganda, located in Nyakahanga Village, Nyarurambi Parish, Rwamucucu Subcounty, Rukiga District.

She highlighted her ongoing sponsorship of wedding ceremonies in the district, noting the program’s success so far, and encouraged Christians to embrace weddings as a way of sanctifying their marriages.

Kamusiime also committed to not only covering the wedding fees but serving as the Maid of Honour for the first couple to marry under this arrangement.

Additionally, she promised to provide wedding cakes and a cow for mass wedding celebrations within the Kihanga Archdeaconry. She explained that her contributions are a gesture of gratitude to the people of Rukiga District for voting her into office twice as their Woman MP.

“All you need to do is register with the Church. The Archdeacon or Enzamba (LC.3 Chairman, Rwamucucu Subcounty) will notify me, and we’ll organize the parties,” Kamusiime said.

In a related gesture, Kamusiime provided solar power equipment as a welcome gift for the new Priest and his family, to be installed in their residential home. The gift included solar lights and a flat-screen TV.

Rev. Isaiah Arinaitwe expressed his gratitude for Kamusiime’s generous support, both to him and the Church. He pledged to pray for her continued success in her political endeavors.

“I will keep praying for you, as I know how much you endure to become leaders. I once contested for a position when I was in Senior Six and lost. I thought I had it in the bag, but the results said otherwise,” Rev. Arinaitwe shared, prompting laughter from the congregation.
