Kigezi Kampala Catholic Residents Association (KKCRA) raised over UGX 95 million in cash and pledges during a fundraising dinner held at Hotel Africana on Friday, December 13, 2024. The event is part of the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) 2024 drive, aimed at supporting Kabale Diocese’s ongoing development projects.

The KKCRA Chairman, Narcis Tumushabe Rwangoga, welcomed guests and applauded their generosity. He highlighted BAAF’s accomplishments over the years, including several landmark projects such as: A commercial building in Kabale Town (2009-2013), currently undergoing completion, Renovation of Rushoroza Cathedral (2014), Establishment of Centenary Bank branches in Kisoro (2015), Kabale (2019), and Rukungiri (2021/22), Construction of the Golden Jubilee House (2016), Launch of Radio Maria (2017), St. Ignatius University Kabale (2023).

Rwangoga emphasized the tangible outcomes of BAAF, stating: “The obvious and visible fruits of BAAF include the Golden Jubilee building, Radio Maria at Rushoroza Hill, the renovated Cathedral, and the revenue generated from buildings rented by Centenary Bank in Kisoro, Kabale, and Rukungiri.”

Alex Baguma, Chairperson of the BAAF Central Organizing Committee, extended his gratitude to all contributors and invited the public to the grand finale of BAAF 2024, scheduled for January 11, 2025, at Rushoroza Cathedral.

Representing Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Rev. Fr. Davis Keinamura expressed appreciation for the community’s generosity. He underscored the Diocese’s strategic vision for financial self-reliance through income-generating projects, urging Christians to support this mission at both diocesan and parish levels: “As the Diocese progresses financially, so should our parishes and households. Let us embrace this opportunity to ensure sustainability.”

The fundraising dinner was followed by a marathon on Sunday, December 14, 2024, held at Kitante Hill School. The Kampala leg of the 2024 BAAF drive will conclude with a solemn Mass at Uganda Martyrs Shrine Namugongo, presided over by Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira. Parish Coordinators representing Christians from Kabale Diocese living in Greater Kampala will announce contributions during the event.

The BAAF 2024 drive targets raising UGX 1.5 billion to complete a commercial building in Kabale Town, strategically located on Plot 10 along Kabale-Mbarara Road. Once finished, the building will provide a steady income stream for the Diocese, reinforcing its mission of self-reliance.
