In a solemn ceremony held at the Kabale Diocesan Headquarters on Sunday, June 30, 2024, six deacons were ordained to the priesthood, marking a significant milestone for both the individuals and the Kabale Diocese.
The newly ordained priests, namely Deacon Alex Muhwezi, Deacon Anaklet Asingwire, Deacon Robert Mugabe, Deacon Christopher Niwagaba, Deacon Innocent Kanyesige, and Deacon Philemon Byomuhangi, were called upon to uphold the values of unity and community service.
Bishop Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira delivered a poignant message, challenging the new priests to represent the image of the Kabale Diocese with integrity. “Priesthood is a demanding vocation,” he emphasized, “but I urge you to embody the spirit of our diocese and foster unity among Christians.”

Hon. Henry Musasizi, State Minister for Finance and General Duties, echoed the call for service, encouraging the priests to educate their congregations on spiritual and developmental matters. He drew parallels with the government’s efforts under President Museveni, emphasizing unity and development for all Ugandans.
“The Church plays a crucial role in supporting government initiatives,” Musasizi stated, highlighting agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and ICT as avenues for economic empowerment.
