According to the Kabale District Communications Officer, Byakatonda Alex, the celebrations will be held this Friday, June 21st, at Kyanamira Primary Playground. The Prime Minister of Uganda, Hon. Robbina Nabbanja, is expected to be the guest of honour, and ten thousand people are expected to attend the function from different parts of the country and beyond.
Though Women’s Day is celebrated annually worldwide on March 8, Byakatonda said that the government has given districts the flexibility to celebrate this day on their own chosen date up until the end of the financial year, following guidelines set by the government.
Byakatonda added that this day is celebrated to honour our mothers, sisters, and daughters for the roles they play in the development of the country.
