The Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna, has called upon parents to actively engage their children in household chores as a strategy to foster a healthier and more hygienic society. His remarks were made during a ceremony where ten exemplary families were rewarded for their victory in a recent sanitation and hygiene competition organized by the diocese. Each winning family received a goat and a certificate of recognition.
Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the crucial role of instilling good hygiene practices from a young age. He highlighted that involving children in activities such as cleaning their rooms, washing dishes, and maintaining overall home cleanliness can significantly contribute to a society that prioritizes health and sanitation. He noted that these competitions aim to boost health standards and combat preventable diseases within the Christian community. He urged Christians across the diocese to engage actively in these activities to enhance their effectiveness.
