Nineteen onion farmers from Rukiga district have received a significant boost through a donation of agro-inputs from the AVSI Foundation. These beneficiaries are part of the Kigezi Potato Farmers Cooperative Society and are enrolled in the Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAYE) project.
This initiative, funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and implemented by AVSI Foundation, aims to equip young individuals aged 18-30, including nationals and refugees, with essential agricultural skills for immediate employment in the sector.
Crescent Mugisha, the Chairperson of the Kigezi Potato Farmers Cooperative Society, highlighted that the donation would significantly enhance onion farming in the region.
During the same event, youth in agriculture were advised to manage their benefits wisely to maximize their agricultural ventures’ success.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, noting that the support has bolstered their interest and commitment to agriculture.
