Kigezi Homeboys Hold Busoga United FC to 1-1 Draw in Thrilling FUFA Big League Encounter

In a captivating FUFA Big League clash, Kigezi Homeboys held Busoga United FC to a 1-1 draw at the newly constructed Kigezi Homeboys Al-Madinah Stadium in Kabale Municipality. The match, originally postponed due to heavy rainfall, kicked off at 10:00 AM of Monday morning and kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Busoga United FC dominated the early stages, showcasing skillful football and maintaining control of possession. Their efforts paid off in the 57th minute when Joel Madondo found the back of the net, breaking the deadlock and putting Busoga ahead.

However, the game took a dramatic turn when Busoga United’s lack of discipline caught up with them. In the 87th minute, Wilson Mukola was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, and Kigezi Homeboys were awarded a penalty. Joseph Seremba coolly converted from the spot in the 88th minute, leveling the score and sending the home fans into a frenzy.

Kigezi Homeboys head coach, Denis Tushabe, praised his team’s resilience in the face of a tough opponent. “Busoga United is a strong side, but we held our own. I’m proud of the boys for not giving up,” he said, though he also criticized Busoga’s time-wasting tactics. “It was disappointing to see them wasting time, but we stayed focused and got our equalizer.”

Team captain James Junior Tukay acknowledged the pressure but remained optimistic. “Busoga United challenged us, and it pushed us to work harder. The indiscipline from their side was unfortunate, but it’s part of football.”

Kigezi Homeboys CEO, Brian Akakwasa, expressed optimism about the future of the team’s new home ground. “Our stadium is still in the first phase of construction, but by the end of this season, it will be up to standard,” he noted, emphasizing the team’s long-term vision.

Busoga United officials declined to comment after the match.

Kigezi Homeboys will now set their sights on their next fixture against Booma FC.
