Ndorwa West MP Hopeful Dr. Mbona Urges Youth to Engage in Sports for Physical Fitness and Unity

Dr. Hilary Bakamwesiga Mbona, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Ndorwa West, yesterday 29 December, 2024 urged youth to engage in sports activities to enhance their physical fitness and foster unity within their communities.

He made this call during a friendly football match between youth from Katenga, Kampala, and those from Katenga Parish, which took place at the Katenga Primary School Playground in Kamuganguzi Subcounty, Ndorwa West.

Speaking with our reporters shortly after the match, Dr. Hilary emphasized that sports play a crucial role in personal development and community cohesion. He noted that youth involvement in sports provides an opportunity to engage in productive activities, helping them grow both individually and as members of a wider community.

“As we look to empower our youth, sports provide the perfect platform for them to develop discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills,” Dr. Hilary said. “Such activities are critical in ensuring the well-being and unity of our communities.”

Dr. Hilary also announced plans to launch a football tournament across all subcounties in Ndorwa West next year, aiming to give local youth more opportunities to showcase their talents and stay physically active. He expressed his gratitude to the people of Ndorwa West for their strong turnout and support at the match, commending both players and spectators for their exemplary discipline throughout the event.

Ronald Owamazima, the coordinator of the friendly match and captain of the Kampala youth team, thanked Dr. Hilary for his initiative in supporting youth sports. “We are grateful to Dr. Hilary for facilitating this match,” Owamazima said. “This event has helped us engage with our friends from Katenga, and we look forward to inviting the Katenga youth to Kampala for another match.
